1. This is the inside of a FedEx Boeing 747 empty of any cargo. FedEx has over 600 aircrafts in their fleet. FedEx has the 4th largest fleet in the world which delivers cargo to nearly every country in the world every day.

3. This is the 2nd largest land vehicle in the world. The Bagger 288. It's a bucket wheel excavator also known as a strip mining machine. It weighs in at 13,500 tons.
4. Giant sized statue of Genghis Khan on horseback in Mongolia. The statue itself is over 131 ft tall and it sits on top of a visitors center that is itself nearly 33 feet tall making to the total effect 163 feet tall. Visitors can also go up into the head of the horse for panoramic views.

6. The Aurora Borealis from space. The northern lights are a result of gas particles in the earth's atmosphere colliding with charged particles from the sun's atmosphere. The type of gas in the collision can affect the color.
7. A clutch of octopus eggs which had been woven together by the female octopus which then guards and cleans the eggs until they hatch. Female octopus only reproduce once and then die themselves, but they typically have thousands of young in that one batch.
8. This is the clearest photo of Mercury ever taken. Which is the smallest of the planets in our solar system and also the closest to the sun. Temperature in Mercury ranges from -280 °F to 800 degrees °F
9. This is a picture of Mars from the Curiosity Rover showing the planet's true color. Mars is the 4th planet from he sun. It is also the 2nd smallest planet after Mercury.
10. Because the prisons in El Salvador are so overcrowded, inmates are often kept in holding cells which are meant to hold prisoners for no more than 72 hours before being transferred to the prisons. Since there is no room in the prisons, some inmates have been in holding cells for over 5 years. The holding cell is 9 feet by 9 feet and hold 23 inmates. There are no toilets in the cell either. Feces are passed out of the cell on a plate.

12. Before and after pictures of a scoliosis treatment. Scoliosis is a sideway curvature of the spine and they generally only do surgery if the curve is greater than 50%. The surgery involves installing hooks and screws into the spine which anchor long rods supporting the spine. New bone then fuses together. The rods can be removed once the bones fuse but are generally left in unless complications necessitate removal.

14. This is the lava lake of the Erta Ale Valcano in Ethiopia. It is the largest volcano in Ethiopia and is continuously active. It is very rare for volcanos to hold lava lakes. There are only six in the world and Erta Ale is the longest existing lava Lake out of those six.
15. Bird's eye view of a scrap-tire dump. There are 128 million scrap tires that remain in stock piles even though more and more tires are being recycled. The most common uses for scrap tires are by tire-derived fuel and ground rubber (like playgrounds and tracks). If not disposed correctly they can be hazardous.
16. Daytona Beach 1957 near the end of it's 50 year reign for motor sports on the hard-packed sand beach before the Daytona International Speedway was built in 1959.
17. This watch belonged to Akito Kawagoe who was a soldier stationed only 1.1 miles from the hypocenter of the Hiroshima Bombing in 1945. It stopped at 8:15 which is the exact time the bomb went off. Akin Kawagoe survived the bombing.

20. This awesome picture is what a geyser looks like just before it erupts. Geysers are relatively rare phenomenons that take place near volcanoes. The water seeps down thousands of feet until it makes contact with hot rocks that are in close proximity to magma, which causes the water to boil and pressurize resulting in it being released through the surface vent.

26. This is the city of Nördlingen in Belgium, Germany. It was built in 898 AD in a meteor crater.

28. Climbers going up Mount Everest which is Earth's highest mountain. If a climber were to die on the way to the summit, it is generally too dangerous to carry the body back down, so they are usually left on the mountain. As of 2006 a reported 150 people have never been recovered from Mount Everest.
