Mirror Installations by Francisco Infante-Arana

Francisco Infante-Arana was born to a Spanish father and Russian mother (1943), who raised him. He enrolled in the Surikov Art Institute at the age of fourteen, studied there until 1962. Afterwards he studied at the Moscow Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts (1962-1966).

In the 1960s and early 1970s, he was a member of the artists collective known as the Movement Group, founded by Lev Nussberg. He was and continues to be one of the premier Russian avant-garde artists. He currently lives and works in Moscow.

Since 1962, I have been engaged in geometric, and later kinetic art; through my works I wanted to express emotions linked to the infinite organization of the world - in this way. Nature became for me a symbol of the eternal, mysterious, divine world, whose complement was another world, the world of so-called “second nature” - the world of technology. I think of them as interacting with each other. So I try to achieve an adequate expression of the world as it is.
