Daniel Spoerri
Daniel Spoerri (Romania, 1930) specializes in object art, where he captures a group of objects (most commonly the dinner table after a family eats) and then displays it onto a board, which is attached to a wall. This type is art is called snap-pictures. Spoerri provides interest into ordinary family life, and shows that even a family meal is diverse among different cultures. This simple idea of a family dinner shows viewers that no matter how different a country may seem, there are still some common similarities within families. Spoerri is not only an accomplished artist, but also a successful writer. His book Topographie Anécdotée* du Hasard (An Anecdoted Topography of Chance) explains exactly how he takes the snap-pictures and his personal experiences of the cultures he had come across.
