Alcohol isn't just something people drink for recreational purposes in Japan, it's something that's used at business meetings as well. If you go to a business meeting with your co-workers you'll be forced to drink until you can't drink anymore otherwise you will look weak. But all that drinking means that the businessmen of Japan are going to have to sleep off the hangover somewhere and most of the time they do it in public.
