Staufer & Hasler - Kirchgasse apartments, Steckborn 2011. Located in the sensitive historic center of the ‘old town,’ the residential units stretch horizontally along the street front, shifting to towers at the intersections of the volumes and on the inner edges of the courtyards to allow for views to the nearby lake Untersee. I especially like the subtle detailing that weaves the project into the historic fabric; the abstract painted graphics, colors, and steel shutter design all play off the colorful motifs of the existing surroundings in a very subtle way.
