Standard
Directors Guido Santi and Tina Mascara have made an uplifting documentary of Vreeland’s fascinating life. Through photographs and interviews, they tell his story. The movie “Monk With A Camera” had its NYC premier at Lincoln Center this past weekend. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama has told Vreeland that his “special duty (is) to bridge Tibetan tradition and Western world.” He is now the director of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist Center in New York City, The Tibet Center.

Vreeland explains:

I am a monk who makes photographs. The monastic aspect needs to be the overarching one. Photography simply plays a part in my life, sometimes big, sometimes small…I am just an amateur photographer, one who engages in it out of love and out of necessity or addiction.
