Hosted by humorist Will Rogers, the 6th Oscar ceremony was held on this day in 1934 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. 

One of those who went home with a statuette was Walt Disney whose “Three Little Pigs” was the winner of Short Subject (Cartoon). 

Best Picture, then called Outstanding Production, went to “Cavalcade”, the film also won for Directing (Frank Lloyd) and Art Direction (William S. Darling) .
