Egyptian Cult Image of Ptah, Third Intermediate Period, Early Dynasty 26, c. 945–600 BC
Found in a shrine at a temple, this statuette was created to house the spirit of the god Ptah, lord of the sky, responsible for the fashioning and maintenance of the physical universe. It’s made of lapis lazuli that was imported from Afghanistan, a very rare commodity in ancient Egypt. This statue stands at only 2" high.
